Order status page script tags

This covers script tags with the order_status or all display scope. Since 2025-02-01 apps cannot create them. They stopped running on the order status page on 2025-08-28 for Plus stores and on 2026-08-26 for every other store. All three dates have passed.

Tags with the all scope also run on storefronts, and keep doing so until 2027-03-01. See Script tags stop loading on storefronts for that part.

What breaks

Any customization your app made to the order status page with a script tag stops working for that store, and Shopify ignores those tags on that page.

Apps without a replacement appear under "Requires update by app developer" in the merchant's customizations report, which can lead merchants to uninstall them. Shopify also warns merchants about it in a banner when they install such an app.

How to check

Developers. Run the scriptTags query in the GraphQL Admin API and look for displayScope values of ORDER_STATUS or ALL. Use CheckoutProfile to see whether a store has upgraded its Thank you and Order status pages.

Merchants. Look for the customizations report that lists apps needing an update, and ask those vendors for their replacement. I have not verified where the report sits in the admin.

How to fix

• Content rendered on the page. Use customer account UI extensions. These work on stores that have upgraded their Thank you and Order status pages.
• Analytics and conversion tracking. Use web pixels. They work on any store and render no UI.
• Cleanup. Delete the old tag with scriptTagDelete once you are sure the replacement works. If the tag has the all scope, remember it is also your storefront script tag.
