Market-driven shipping rollout

Market-driven shipping moves shipping configuration out of delivery profiles and into Markets. It has been in feature preview since 2026-07-01. The rollout begins on 2026-10-01, and on 2027-07-01 it becomes the default for all qualified merchants, with no opt-out. Shopify says the timeline is subject to change.

Timeline explained

• 2026-10-01. Merchants can opt in. New shops are opted in automatically. New installs see a warning when an app is not compatible. Existing merchants can opt in.
• 2026-10-01 to 2027-07-01. Shopify moves merchants over as apps confirm compatibility. It will not move an app's merchants until the app is attested as compatible.
• 2027-07-01. Default for all qualified merchants. The legacy deliveryProfile and deliveryProfiles queries are deprecated for merchant-owned configuration.

What breaks

Apps that read or write merchant-owned delivery profiles need updates. That covers deliveryProfile, deliveryProfiles, and deliveryProfileCreate, deliveryProfileUpdate and deliveryProfileRemove on profiles your app did not create. Merchants can enable or disable an app's rates under market-driven shipping, but they cannot change the rate values.

Apps that only manage their own app-owned profiles are not affected.

A merchant who opts in before your app is ready may see breakage.

How to check

• Audit your GraphQL operations for the delivery profile queries and mutations listed above.
• Read ShopFeatures.marketDrivenShipping per merchant to see which mode they are in.
• Create a development store with the feature preview and test your read and write paths there.

Merchants should expect the opt-in to appear in their admin from 2026-10-01. Ask your shipping app vendors whether they have confirmed compatibility.

How to fix

Apps that read shipping configuration. Use Contextual Product Feeds (read_product_listings), or branch on marketDrivenShipping and read Market.delivery (read_markets).

Apps that write shipping configuration. Either create an app-owned profile with deliveryProfileCreate and DeliveryProfileInput.coversAllItems, or use marketCreate and marketUpdate (read_markets, write_markets) for shops on market-driven shipping.

After upgrading, submit Shopify's compatibility self-attestation form so merchants can be moved.
